The Answer Lies Within

Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.  ~Bill Cosby

Sometimes we are faced with a situation where we have a tough decision to make and the options we see have equally drastic consequences.

I firmly believe we hold the answers that we seek.  We just need to accept the decision and follow through with authority and confidence that we have what it takes to succeed no matter the decision.

Life will always keep moving.  Sometimes the decision can be made by simply asking, “can I go to bed every night with comfort in this decision?”   The answer should be a resounding yes.    If there is any doubt we can end up living in regret.
I learned this the hard way.    I spent a few years praying hard for a relationship I felt so drawn to and knew in my heart we were meant to be.  One day I had an overwhelming urge to uproot my life and go be with him.    However,  fear overcame my heart and made me second guess that being the right decision, even though I knew it was my soul’s deepest desire and it was being given to me with only one condition .. move.

I kept feeding the fear, and feeding the fear, until one day that fear turned into a deeply, sorrowful regret.  I knew my opportunity was passing me by every second, and still I didn’t make moves to let it happen.

Regret ate at me day and night.   I wondered on “what if” and beat myself up inside for not trusting what I had been praying for all along was being given to me.  It took me several years to process through the regret and accept that I had made a decision that brought sadness, and heartbreak as a consequence.
Regret taught me two things … trust my instincts and believe that everything will work out.   If you have the urge to make changes in your life,  if you feel like you should be in a different career path, if you feel like a relationship deserves a chance or should end,  ask your self “which decision brings me the most peace?” And “can I go to bed with that choice every night?”  The answer is there you just need to be brave enough to choose.

I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear. ~Rosa Parks
